| - How does ranking work? Answer - Comics are ranked by how many votes they receive from readers. When you submit your comic after joining, you are given a small HTML code that you paste on your site and when a reader clicks through that butotn, you receive a vote. |
| - How many times per day can a person vote? Answer - A person can vote once a day per comic. If you have two comics, a person can vote once for each of those comics per day. |
| - When do votes reset? Answer - Votes are reset at the end of the month, allowing newer comics to catch up to other comics. |
| - How do I get my vote button code? Answer - Once you submit a comic, you are taken to the page where you can get the code for your button. If you did not acquire your button in this manner, you can log in and go to your current comics and click on the red "Get Code" button. |
| - I can get paid to receive votes!? Answer - Amazingly, YES! You receive 2 ad credits per vote that originates from your site. You can either use these votes to display ads in our network, or you can save them up and sell them back to the site when you have enough. |

| - Can I review a comic on this site? Answer - Yes you can! On every comic, there is a "Comments" link right under the rating of the comic (G, PG, PG13, R). You can rate, review, and comment on these comics. |
| - What are the differences between the "Artwork", "Storyline", and "Website" ratings for each comic? Answer - Every comic can be rated on three different aspects. Artwork being how well you judge the artwork of the comic, storyline being how well the story of the comic captures you, or if the comic is random, how well they can bring together these random strips, and website being how well the site is designed, how fast it loads, and how easy it is to navigate. |
| BANNER EXCHANGE ANSWERS |
| - How does the banner exchange work? Answer - After you submit a comic, you are able to add banners (One of each size) for each comic. These banners are shown across our network as well as other members' sites. The banner exchange can be both free and paid. You get 10,000 ad credits for free when you join. Our system looks for any banners that currently have credits in them and shows the banners accordingly. If there are not enough banners with ad credits in them to show in the cluster, the rest of the cluster will be populated with banners that do not have any ad credits. (Pretty much showing them for free.) If there are too many banners made by other members that have ad credits and this causes your banner to never appear (if your banner has no ad credits), you should display some ads on your site, and receive ad credits that you can use to display your banner, or you can trade them in for an income. In a summary, It is simply like a normal FREE banner exchange that you can produce income off of. The only way you can get ad credits, however, is if the banners you show in your cluster currently have ad credits. If you show free ads, you are rewarded no credits. |
| - How much does it cost? Answer - It can be both free and paid. The current rates for ad credits can be found here. You can get ad credits for free by receiving votes (Not valid if the vote came from our site), or by displaying a cluster with ads on your site. |
| - Are the banners shown on your site free? Answer - Yes! Any banners shown on our site are completely free. All you have to do in order to have your banner show on the right cluster is to make an ad for your comic. All ads in our system are shown on the cluster to the right hand side of this page. This may change in the future, if the bandwidth for displaying the ads becomes expensive, but that may be a while from now. |
| - What is a "Cluster"? Answer - A "Cluster" is a group of ads. There is an example cluster to the right hand side of our site. This cluster, however, is unique and no member can create such a cluster on their own site. You can create your own cluster in your account page, after you are approved to show clusters. |
| - How do I make a cluster? Answer - Once you are approved to show clusters on your site, you can proceed to the "Ad Clusters $$" part of your account page and create a cluster. To create a cluster, you select how many ads will show in the cluster (Example; 4 ads), then you select how many ads per row (Example; 2 ads). This will create a cluster of ads 2x2 of whatever ad you may have selected. Further instructions on creating a cluster can be found in your account page when you are about to create a cluster. |
| - How many clusters can I have on my site? Answer - You can have up to 3 clusters on your site. The best layout would include 3 different types of ads, one type in each cluster. You can add some of the smaller ads by your menu, while having larger column, square, or leaderboard clusters for regular advertisement areas. |
| - Can I get paid for showing ads on my site? Answer - Yes! of course, you must apply and be approved to display ads first. If you display ads on your site, there will be times when you display ads that are free (If there are no paid ads to show on your site at the moment). For those times that you display free ads, you will receive no ad credits. If you display ads that have credits, you will receive ad credits that you can use to either show your ads on other sites, or receive an income. |
| - How much are ad credits worth? Answer - Here are the rates for ad credits. At the moment, you can buy and sell ad credits at 10,000 ad credits per $1.00. This may seem like a lot of ad credits, but keep in mind that you can display up to 6 ads in a cluster. This multiplies the amount of ad credits you can receive. |
| - How many ad credits do I get for showing ads? Answer - Ad rates . Click on the ad rates link to see how many ad credits you get for a single display of an ad. Keep in mind that you can display up to 6 ads per cluster. |
| - What is the exchange ratio on banners? Answer - Exchange rates . We give 80% of the cost of an ad to the person displaying the ad. For example, if it costs 1 ad credit to display your ad once, when someone else displays your ad, they will receive 0.8 ad credits. If you diplay a free ad in your cluster, it means there were not enough ads to show all paid ads in your cluster, rewarding you for only the ads that you showed that had credits. |
| - Can I delete any clusters that I have made? Answer - No. We like to keep track of what clusters showed and how many times they showed. Once you make a cluster, it cannot be deleted. |
| - Are there any penalties I should worry about? Answer - Yes. If your account comes unders suspicion of malicious activity, we will permanently ban your advertising account. When you ask for a payment, we review all activity that your clusters generate before sending payment. Our system also warns us if there is any suspicious activity occuring. Examples of malicious activity; Auto refreshing ads, Constant clicks from the same person, significantly large amount of pageviews from the same person, low amount of clicks on your clusters (Can usually occur when you place ad clusters with lots of ads in very hidden areas), and/or reshaping ads to display less ads than you are supposed to. Simply put, don't attempt to generate pageviews for yourself, and you shouldn't land a ban. |
| - When will payments be available at ComicHovel.com? Answer - The payment system is being developed and should be ready no later than the end of May. Chances are, however, that the payments will be possible by the end of April, 2010. The minimum payment amount should be $10.00, but may be different. Only time will tell. ;] |
